Hello World! After noticing a few WordPress developers had followed me in Twitter, I just had to write up this blog post! ☺️
As a surprise to today’s WordPress developers & designers, I was an ALPHA & BETA TESTER of WordPress, as well as, Joomla content management systems! ☺️ That’s because I began developing HTML web pages in 1995, and kept improving on my skills, year after year. ☺️
Why HTML in 1995? Because I was already a computer programmer of the B.A.S.I.C., Assembly & C programming languages that began computer life with CompuServe, a dozen years earlier. I was initially offered to alpha test the Hotdog Web Designer program, before becoming a beta tester for Macromedia Dreamweaver software application. — This happened after I wrote my first HTML 3 webpage using Microsoft Notepad in the first release of Microsoft Windows 95, for posting my resume online. ☺️
During the early 2000s, I received eMail about testing an experimental database printing system, from a few commercial entities; WordPress & Joomla were among those in my inbox, but I cannot remember who came first. Why me? Because I was already running at least one GNU/Linux server in my home, and I became the primary testing candidate. Also, my development work with the C programming language had something to do with it. ☺️
In 2005, as I recall from my past livelihood in Seattle, I was running both WordPress & Joomla on my Red Hat Fedora GNU/Linux computer server, in while also working as a security officer for the apartment building I lived in. Though I originally preferred Joomla over WordPress, I found WordPress much easier to manage posted content BETTER, despite both were crashing my server at different times. Also, I had to deal with a variety of web browsers, some working well, some of which crashed my server. — Lots of memories! ☺️
Now that I’m totally BLIND, I heard WordPress content is mostly accessible by screenreaders, such as Google TalkBack & Apple Voiceover; I heard that from other BLIND users. And so, I decided to choose WordPress to host my SCIENCE blog, my final blog before I “vanish” from the online world, scheduled for later this year.
Nowadays, I find it kind of “encouraging” when current WordPress developers & designers follow me in Twitter, most of which are supporting WordPress for a profit. Yes, I miss those days of earning money from providing webmaster services to the public, so I know what today’s WordPress developers/designers are experiencing. Now, I’m the End User experiencing the free services of WordPress! ☺️
Thanks for reading my latest blog post! Have a Great Day!
