Today, I’m celebrating 33.22 years of Computer Programming in the C Programming Language! Currently, I have been programming in C on my iPhone for 2.69 years now using my 3.53 year-old Bluetooth QWERTY keyboard!
Hello World! Unlike when I had perfect eyesight, I’m only writing “code snippets” running through a networked compiler in the USA. I also had to adapt to using a Bluetooth QWERTY keyboard, as opposed to swiping left & right on a touchscreen-based keyboard. Since I was never coding graphical programs, I’m just continuing as if I’m still using the GNU C compiler in my old Debian GNU/Linux system. ☺️
Prior to New Year’s Day 2022, I was researching other computer programming languages besides what else I have (Swift, BASIC, FreeBASIC & VisualBASIC .NET), such as Go, Rust, C# or Quantum, but quickly realized I’m already having cognition issues due to being over 50 years old. Unfortunately, I’m not young anymore, so learning new programming languages, is a skill I no longer have. I had difficulty learning the basics of the Swift programming language.
Though the C programming language is now considered an obsolete language, especially since Dennis Richie had died in 2011 at the age of 70, I’m still happy coding in C! I also mastered the UNIX operating system, in which C is the standard. I only learned the basics of C++, but stayed with C over the decades, even when I ran GNU/Linux on a daily basis.
Thanks for reading my latest blog post! Have a Great Day!

Became permanently-disabled in 2003 due to health-related illness, ending my moonlighting career as an independent private investigator in the USA.
RETIRED independent developer of computing & electronics technologies after 35 wonderful years, including 20 wonderful years in GNU/Linux development & 8 wonderful years as an independent embedded systems developer of digital electronics.
Former speech synthesis systems developer of 30 wonderful years, specializing in foreign language phoneme-to-speech synthesis. Also was a beta tester of third-party software-based speech synthesizers.

Learned 10-finger QWERTY touch-typing on a manual typewriter in 1980 at a US-based elementary school. Mastered 10-finger QWERTY touch-typing without looking at the keyboard in 1986. Now have osteoarthritis in both of my hands from all that touch-typing!
My primary computer programming language is C, which I learned in 1990. My secondary programming language is B.A.S.I.C., which I self-learned in 1982. Prior to my sight-loss, I used to program in LISP/CLISP and Prolog for my early development of artificial intelligence & machine learning programs.
Daily, to compensate/facilitate my sight-loss, I am actively using Apple iOS VoiceOver, Google Android TalkBack and Amazon Fire OS VoiceView screen-readers, in addition to my external Bluetooth QWERTY keyboard and sometimes, my Orbit Writer Braille keyboard, as HOBBIES.
