Computer Vision: Now Experimenting with The vOICe on my Amazon Fire HD 8 tablet!

Hello World! Shortly after I became totally BLIND 35 wonderful years after my computer science skill began, I began researching computer vision products to substitute for what I have lost. ☺️

Though The vOICe works perfectly well on my Xiaomi Redmi 9T Android smartphone, I decided to install it on my Amazon Fire HD 8 tablet:

My Amazon Fire HD 8 tablet is now 1.74 years old. It was modified to have the Google Play Store 11.86 weeks ago.

Though text-entry using the Amazon Voiceview screenreader is not easy to work with, I had to scroll through my Google Play Store library to install the app, after discovering it does not exist in the Amazon App Store. It took me over three hours to figure out how to download The vOICe, and then had my wife’s nephew disable Voiceview screenreader to put the app in my BLIND folder.

Upon launching the app, I discovered the onboard speakers makes a click sound before every left-to-right scan, or the click may be happening after every scan, yet at my age, my guess is good enough! ☺️ I’ve yet to try with headphones.

During setting up the app in the Options menu, I toggled the Full-Screen mode, only to experience I can no longer return to that option menu. Despite being locked out of the Options menu, the app does work exceptionally well! ☺️

My standard modifications are shake to mute/unmute and no zoom.

So far, The vOICe app produces sounds from objects in my science lab that I can not yet interpret. The vOICe website has a page about “Brainwave Entrainment”, which I have yet to visit, as I am using that method on my sound therapy science experiments.

Though The vOICe works well on my Amazon Fire HD 8 tablet, I’ll soon be doing more experiments with my Xiaomi Redmi 9T Android smartphone. ☺️

Thanks for reading my latest blog post! Have a Great Day!
